| History |
Holy Spirit was founded in 1961, but an Episcopal presence was located in Bellevue as early as the 1850s during the westward expansion of the United States.
Holy Spirit is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska, the Nebraska branch of the Episcopal Church - USA (ECUSA). The Episcopal Church is made up of between two and three million worshipers in about 7500 congregations across the United States and related dioceses outside the US.
The Episcopal Church is a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion, churches around the world that trace their roots to the Church of England and have given rise to a distinct form of Christianity, known as Anglicanism.

| Facilities |
Located just one block off Fort Crook Road, Holy Spirit is located in the Twin Ridge subdivision. We are the evacuation site for the Twin Ridge Elementary School just a block away. We have a large parking lot that accesses the double red doors into our ground floor fellowship hall, preschool and nursery rooms. The church office, chapel, and library are also on the ground floor and may be entered from the entrance on Thomas Drive. Our main worship space is upstairs, with oak pews and railings and the Lord's Table in the center, with skylights and a cross above. The church holds up to 300 people. Two columbarium are discretely located to each side of the church tucked in the wings. A stained glass window in the back entryway shows lovely symbols of the Bible found in nature. |

Welcome to Nebraska and the wide open spaces of the American heartland!
Holy Spirit Episcopal is located in Bellevue, near Nebraska's eastern border with Iowa. Our community is just 15 minutes from downtown Omaha, Nebraska's largest city (pop. 404,000). Bellevue is a growing community of 47,000 people, with high quality schools and a major Air Force base located just a few miles from the church.
The interstate highway system provides quick access to all parts of Omaha as well as major parts of western Iowa. There are a great variety of restaurants, playhouses, movie theaters, educational opportunities, parks, and outdoor recreation opportunities in the Bellevue area. Omaha is home to the world-famous Henry Doorly Zoo and is the annual host of the College World Series.
We're also just a couple of hours from the major metropolitan area of Kansas City, Missouri and a short flight from Chicago. Getting to either area is no problem. Two interstate highways intersect here major east-west thoroughfare I-80 and I-29.
More than 807,000 people live in the eight-county Omaha metropolian area. According to the Census Bureau, in Holy Spirit's Sarpy County, 49.8% of the population is male, 50.2% is female. The median age is 32 years. The ethnic make up is 91.5% White, 4.0% Black, 5.4% Hispanic and 2.1% Asian.
